New Delhi: Recent developments in the Indian Ocean have attracted everyone's attention. Just before an Iranian warship was sunk in the US attack, Iran requested India to allow another of its ships to dock immediately in Kochi. India accepted this request and allowed the ship to dock at Kochi port.
According to sources, this request came at a time when the situation in West Asia was already tense and the conflict between America, Israel and Iran was increasing.
It was reported that the Iranian Navy ship IRIS Lavan had encountered a technical problem. For this reason, Iran requested India to allow the ship to dock in Kochi for some time so that it could be examined and repaired. India approved this request on maritime rules and humanitarian grounds.
After getting permission, the Iranian ship reached Kochi port on March 4. Necessary facilities have been provided to the crew members present on the ship. At present, the ship is being investigated and the process of correcting the technical flaw is going on.
Meanwhile, another Iranian warship IRIS Dena became a victim of attack in the sea. It is being said that the ship was returning to its country after taking part in a naval activity. It was attacked en route in international waters and sank at sea after suffering heavy damage.
The already ongoing tension has further increased after the news of the sinking of the Iranian ship came to light. The conflict between America, Israel and Iran is already going on in West Asia. In such an environment, this incident in the Indian Ocean has raised many new questions related to security and diplomacy.
From the Indian side, the permission given to the Iranian ship to stop in Kochi is being said to be a decision taken on maritime tradition and humanitarian grounds.
